Classes
Farsi Class
Farsi class for all ages is in session since early 1997.  Sessions are conducted on weekends and open to the public. Anyone with desires to learn Farsi is encouraged to participate.  For more information please contact the center and ask for the Educations (Amoozesh) group.

Gatha Class

Grants & Scholarships

The Fali Chothia Charitable Trust is now accepting applications for its 15th
annual awards. Scholarships are open to all Zoroastrian students in North
America who are enrolled in four-year or graduate-level programs. Awards are
based on financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular activity and
community service. They are given as outright gifts or no- and low-interest
loans.


To demonstrate solidarity and trust between organizations while serving
community causes, the US Chapter of the World Zoroastrian Organisation is
joining the Fali Chothia Trust's Scholarship Program. This
partnership will enable the Trust to significantly increase the amount of
its scholarships.

The Fali Chothia Charitable Trustt was established in 1988 under the
Zoroastrian Association of Metropolitan Washington, Inc. (ZAMWI). The Trust
provides scholarships to deserving Zoroastrian students enrolled in
universities in North America, regardless of their country of origin.

FEZANA

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS  

Applications are invited for the FEZANA SCHOLARSHIPS and the MEHRABAN DORAB KHERADI ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIPS.

The scholarships are open  to Zarathushti applicants who have obtained admission for attendance at institutions of higher learning (accredited degree-granting colleges or universities) in USA or Canada.

Scholarships: Scholarships for the academic year will be awarded as planned.

Eligibility:      To be eligible the applicant must complete the application form and provide documentation for:

(1)   proof of status in USA or Canada (a minimum of one year residency in USA or Canada is required)

(2)    past academic records and accomplishments

(3)    program of study

(4)    annual financial need including assistance already pledged  by other funds, charitable institutions or the institution of choice;  

(5)   other financial assistance available from family and friends

(6)    Community service including contributions to Zarathushti functions and organizations  

(7)   Three reference letters

Award Criteria: Applicants will be rated on Merit of Scholastic Achievement (40%) , Financial Need (40%), Extra-curricular Activities (10%) and Community Service (10%).

Moobed Feridoon Zartoshty 

Moobed Feridoon Zartoshty Religion Education Scholarship is available to all Zarathushtis wishing to pursue higher studies and research in Zarathusti Religion, or in ancient languages relevant to the religion, at a recognized Institute of Higher Education anywhere in the world.

The deadline for application is March 31.

Information on the scholarship and the application form is attached.

FEZANA announces the establishment of a Religion Education Scholarship fund in memory of Late Moobed Faridoon Zardoshty. We are grateful for the munificence of Zardoshty sisters, Pari, Homayoun, Iran and Farangis and their families for their generous donation to FEZANA in memory of their beloved father to set up this scholarship fund.

The Moobed Faridoon Zardoshty Religion Education Scholarship/s is to be awarded to selected Zarathushti individual/s for higher studies and research in Zarathushti religion at a recognized institution of Higher Education anywhere in the world.

Current plans are to award these annual scholarships for a period of five years. An amount has been budgeted for each academic year and may be divided amongst one or more selected individuals.

The Religion Education Committee of FEZANA will manage the eligibility and selection of awards of the scholarship/s. Selected individuals will be required to agree to allow FEZANA and/or the Zarathushti community to receive a tangible benefit from their study and/or research.

Eligibility:

ð       This scholarship is available to all Zarathushtis wishing to pursue higher studies and research in Zarathusti Religion, or in ancient languages relevant to the religion, at a recognized Institute of Higher Education anywhere in the world       The scholarship is available to individuals and not to any institutions.

ð       The candidate must possess a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.

ð       The courses / studies undertaken must be in Zarathushti Religion and not in Comparative Religions.

ð       The courses / studies undertaken must be at undergraduate, graduate or post graduate level.

ð       The courses / studies undertaken may or may not be towards a degree.

ð       To be eligible the applicant must complete the application form and provide all information as specified in the How to apply section

How to Apply:

ð       Application form can be requested from kayomehta@aol.com or downloaded from the FEZANA website http://www.fezana.org

ð       Fill out the Application as completely as possible. Add attachments if you feel additional information may be pertinent.

ð       Attach detail description of the course/s.

ð       Provide annual financial need for the course/s in local currency as well as in US$.

ð       State assistance already pledged by other funds, charitable institutions or the institution of choice.

ð       State other financial assistance available from family and friends.

ð       Provide past academic record(s).

ð       Attach Letters of Recommendations. A minimum of three recommendations are required and at least two must be from independent Zarathushtis. Letters of recommendations from Dastoors, Mobeds, Educators, Community Leaders will be preferred.

ð       Completed application together with requested documents must be returned to Kayomarsh P. Mehta, Chair - FEZANA Religion Education, at the above address to reach him no later than March 31st of each year, to be considered for the next academic year.

Scholarship Conditions:

ð       Scholarship winners will be informed by June 15th of their award. However, the award will be subject to them successfully enrolling for the said course.

ð       Successful candidates will need to show proof of enrolment at the institution.  Upon receipt of a copy of such proof, the scholarship amount will be issued as close to the institution billing date as possible.

ð       Scholarship will be awarded by FEZANA through a local Zarathushti Anjuman where practical to do so.

ð       At the end of the semester or quarter, copy of the grade report must be sent to the above address.  Unsatisfactory grades (C and below, or dropping out) will require the recipient to refund the full scholarship amount.

ð       FEZANA shall reserve the right to publish or reproduce in part or in full any material/s generated by the recipient during the course of these studies, strictly for dissemination to its member organizations and other Zarathushti entities it sees fit.  However, no part of the material will be published or reproduced by FEZANA for any monetary gain.

RATING CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:

Applicants will be rated on Merit of the following criteria:

Potential of the Studies to promote further understanding of Zarathushti religion…...........…30%

Financial Need…………………….........……..30%

How applicant plans to use the knowledge gained during these studies

to benefit our religion and community …………  20%

Community involvement of the individual…….… 10%
