My
Trip to Iran I went to Iran in the summer of 1998. One of the first places I visited was Yazd. There are many holy places in Yazd such as Pire-Sabz, Pire-Herisht, Pire-Naraki and Pire-Banoo. I went to Pire-Sabz. I was there the five days that all Zartoshtis were supposed to be there, to pray, sing, dance and visit each other. It was really exiting to meet new people, make some
friend and to see how many Zartoshtis were there in Iran. They sometimes
call Pire-Sabz by another name, Pire-Chck Chakoo because the area that you
go and pray always has water streaming from the top of the mountain into
there. I
also went to Shiraz. In Shiraz there is a place called “Takhte Jamshid”.
There is not much left of Takhte Jamshid but columns, a couple of
staircases and nice carvings that were made then. It used to be the palace
of king Darius and the kings that came after Darius added on to the palace
making it bigger. Years later the king of Greece, Alexander the Great,
took over Iran and destroyed the palace of Takhte Jamshid. Then the Arabs
took over and stealing the jewelry that were placed in the carvings. That
is why there is nothing left there but ruins. It is a nice historical area
to visit. Overall Iran is a great country to visit and go sightseeing.
I really enjoyed it there you can learn more about your religion and your
Iranian culture. |
