What Makes A Good Zartoshti?

Note:  I am not a Mobed.  I am not a highly positioned person in the Zartoshti religion.  I am just a simple Zartoshti teenager with my own opinion.  Many of you may disagree, and that is fine.  This is just my personal opinion.

Many people have asked me what I consider a "good zartoshti"?  Is it someone who prays 5 times a day, everyday?  Is it someone who goes to the Dare Mehr everyday?  Is it someone who constantly donates money to the Dare Mehr?  I do not think any of these things can make a good Zartoshti.

I believe someone can be a good Zartoshti by being a good person.  Very simple.  Asho Zartosht did not leave us any directions for our daily life.  He did not say, "Pray five times a day and live in this area and do this job."  He simply left us with three very basic, yet extremely meaningful guidelines to live our life by: "Humato, Hukhto, Havaresht” which can be translated to mean Good thoughts, Good words, Good deeds.

These are very basic principles and if followed can lead to a very pleasant and meaningful life.  In my opinion, this is all that is required of being a good Zartoshti.  Even if someone does not go to the Dare Mehr, and does not participate in the Zoroastrian gatherings, if he/she lives his/her life by these three principles, not only will he/she be a good Zartoshti, but he/she will be an excellent person and will bring joy to the world around him/her.
