DAR-E-MEHR
Dar-e-Mehr is a great place for
children to have fun and make new friends. Many Zorastrian kids come and
play with each other. There is a small field so kids can play soccer on
it. They can also play football on it. There is also a basketball hoop so
kids can play a basket ball game, or they can play horse or around the
world. There is volleyball net so people can have a volleyball game. Dar-e-
Mehr also has a play ground for little children to play on. Besides
playing and making friends, you also learn the Persian language. You learn
how to talk, read, and write Farsi. Not all people go to Farsi class.
Farsi class starts when school starts. It’s on Sundays. Some kids used
to hate Farsi and Farsi class but now they like it. Kids go into different
grades every year. The children in the classes write mother’s day cards
and father’s day cards.
There
are celebrations too, like Mehregan, and Yalda. In Mehregan, all the
Mobads pray and the children sing the national anthem, Ey Iran. The
celebration of Yalda is a celebration, which people sit around a table and
read poems. They also eat fruits. In some celebrations everybody in the
Farsi class sing songs. The
most important celebration is Novrooz. It is celebrated all around Iran as
well as here. People come to Dar-e-Mehr to celebrate this event. Novrooz
is like a Christmas to Persians. Kids usually do the plays on Novrooz.
In some celebrations kids volunteer to do plays. People do dances,
pantomimes, plays, and all sorts of other things. I did the pantomime with
my friend Payam. I like doing plays, that’s why I always volunteer. Kids
also pray and give donations to Dar-e-Mehr. There is a praying area behind
Dar-e Mehr. The praying area is in a room. When we go in the praying room,
we take off our shoes. The women where scarves and the men wear white
hats. Every body prays around the big bowl of fire. When we do some of the
prayers that were not memorized, we read from Avesta books. These are some
of the reasons I think you should come to Dar-e-Mehr. |
