A Great Religion Expanded

The Zoroastrian religion is a religion that many people have not even heard about, yet it is one of the oldest monotheist religions. It dates back to about 3800 years ago when a young boy named Asho Zarathushtra was born in the country of Persia. He was born in a time where different people from different religions believed in many different gods. They had a god for everything. As the story goes, Zarathushtra (when he was about thirty years old) went to the mountains and he ended up living there for ten years. When he came back, he had told the people that he had spoken to God. He called this god Ahura Mazda.

The people of Persia thought Zarathushtra was crazy. But Ahura Mazda had spoken to Zarathushtra and he told him to go to the King of Persia and tell all of this to him. So Zarathushtra went to the king and explained to him all that he knew. In meantime, the king was convinced that Zarathushtra had spoken to Ahura Mazda.

The Zartoshti religion is still alive as of today. Even though there are less Zoroastrians than the old times, they still keep the faith alive with the three principles: Humata (Good Thoughts), Hukhta (Good Words), and Havaresht (Good Deeds). These three principles will guide the human soul to happiness and righteousness.

But the beauty of the Zoroastrian religion is that the people have the right to choose their path. Whatever they decide, they have to live with the consequences of their action. This was laid out even 3800 years ago and other religions are just acknowledging how powerful this thought really is.

The Zoroastrian youth are very vital to the well keeping of the belief. There are many Zoroastrian churches around the world that help our youth learn about the religion and teach it to their children when they are grown. This is the first generation of American-Zartoshti families and many are in the activities of the Zoroastrian churches already. But to the contrary, many youths aren’t participating either. We all need to help each other out and get other people involved because the more people that have faith in this great religion, the longer this religion will stay alive and keep expanding.
